Users Club UrbIS 2019

The last UrbIS User Club of 2019 (05/12/2019) boasted a programme packed with interesting content, as per usual.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Olivier Biot (Project Manager, Sirrit), who will speak about BIMy (ITEA 3), a European project which includes the participation of the BRIC and aims to set up a an open collaborative platform model allowing its users to share, save and filter BIM models. BIMy should also allow for the integration and visualization of BIM models in virtual 3D environments such as the UrbIS background map and the interaction between smart city apps via API.

After, Bart De Lathouwer (president of Open Geospatial Consortium) presented the activities of the OGC, which aims to develop and promote open standards in order to guarantee interoperability in geomatics. The pilot project OGC Indoor Mapping Navigation Pilot Initiative (2019) was presented.

After the break, Xavier Querriau (Senior Project Manager, bpost) presented the municipalities’ advice regarding the attribution of streets and addresses for the project Best Address, as the official introduction date of this project is very near.

Gaël Kruwialis (IGN) gave us an overview of Foss4G, which took place in Brussels on 24 October 2019.  

Last but not least, several BRIC employees were there to give an update on UrbIS: the 2019 flight and info regarding the deliverables, the terrestrial topography market and mobile/indoor mapping including deliverables, the QGis tool for residence registration, its integration of the land register, its adaptation according to the UrbIs model, its update’s development, the new technical specifications for future flights, the evolutions of building and address registries …
