Yesterday, the BRIC and Smart City Manager Céline Vanderborght were accompanying Secretary of State Ms Bianca Debaets on a visit to the Microsoft Innovation Center Brussels (MIC Brussels) today. This non-profit organisation, the result of a public-private partnership, was founded by the BRIC, Innoviris, Hub.brussels and Microsoft.

The MIC Brussels aims to encourage the development of the IT sector and the sharing of IT knowledge in the Brussels-Capital Region, among other things by promoting

  • contacts between IT players
  • understanding of emerging technologies through conferences and certifications
  • calls for projects linked to funding opportunities

The MIC Brussels provides support in particular for start-ups (among other things through a Boostcamp programme), students and schools by means of various IT initiation options, as well as for IT developers and professionals.

This visit provided an opportunity to present the activities of the MIC, its role in the Brussels IT ecosystem and its contribution to the Smart City ambitions of the Brussels Region, among other things through hackathons organised jointly with the BRIC.
