A new ASP (autism spectrum profile) consultant, began an assignment at the end of April at the BRIC, more precisely within the IRISbox testers team. It is a project for which he will have to assure the quality required by our customers. While this is a three-month assignment to test this type of collaboration, the BRIC hopes that this will be the first of many.

This new recruit was welcomed as part of a collaboration with Passwerk, which is committed to showcasing this talent by acting as an intermediary with companies. Since its foundation in 2008, Passwerk has been providing ASP IT consultants, focusing on software testing and a wide variety of quality assurance assignments. In 2017, these specific areas of expertise were expanded by hiring and assigning tasks to software developers.

The characteristics linked to autistic spectrum profiles (precision, acute sense of detail, highly analytical mind, strong concentration, etc.) make these consultants an undeniable asset for the BRIC, for testing, development and quality assurance tasks.

This new employee will be supported by a Passwerk job coach and an internal SPOC. The role of the job coach includes stimulating and learning to manage the stress and anxiety of the autism spectrum profile. They will work with the employee to co-construct the project and translate it into concrete and achievable objectives.

Within the BRIC, the team in which this new recruit is working has received the information it needs about his skills and characteristics. His new colleagues will have to take account of these characteristics on a daily basis so they can work together effectively. Indeed, this team will need to use adapted means of communication (focus on the written word, avoid double meanings, use precise words, communicate changes sufficiently early, etc.) to support the expression of this ASP profile and their choices and expectations.

This collaboration is perfectly in line with one of the BRIC's core values, namely collaboration. Close-knit teams perform better. Listening and dialogue: this is how we will make the best use of everyone's skills so we can help to achieve the BRIC's objectives.
