At the request of the URAIA platform, the BRIC organised a webinar (in English) on 4 April.

URAIA is a platform for exchanges about the possibilities offered by smart technologies to innovate in local public administration. It organises these webinars, intended for its members and partners, on a regular basis for the purpose of exchanging ideas and good practices.

Our colleague François Du Mortier moderated this webinar devoted to the services set up by the BRIC as part of the Brussels Region smart city strategy:

  • the ABC of administrative processes;
  • the one-stop counter, IRISbox;
  • the services integrator, FIDUS;
  • the open data portal.

About 40 people from around the world (Belgium, Brazil, Korea, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria and Uganda, among others) followed this webinar live on line.

During the question-and-answer session, participants showed an interest in IRISbox and requested François’ advice on the basic steps to be taken to develop a smart city strategy.

The collaboration between URAIA and the BRIC is to continue with the organisation of an international symposium in Brussels on 30 and 31 May on the theme "Using data to empower cities and their citizens".
