A virtual UrbIS Users Club took place on 1 October, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm (Teams link).

  • 10:30 am: Introduction
  • 10:35 am: Mobile mapping in the Brussels-Capital Region

Following the success of the prototype produced in 2019, mobile mapping has been extended to cover the entirety of the Brussels region. Between March and May, at the initiative of Brussels Mobility, all the roads in the Region were surveyed to collect panoramic images and LiDAR data with geolocation. All these data are currently being processed and will soon be used on a dedicated web mapping platform. Several developments are planned: the creation of an inventory of objects for asset management, the integration of panoramic images in apps, smoother coordination of construction sites, improvements in road infrastructure safety, 3D modelling of structures, etc. The presentation included a practical demonstration of the web mapping environment based on the mobile mapping data.
