Hackathon Smart IoT

Bruxelles Formation, the Microsoft Innovation Center Brussels and the BRIC (Brussels Regional Informatics Centre) are pleased to announce the Hackathon Smart IoT to be held on 5 and 6 April 2018.

This hackathon, intended exclusively for Bruxelles Formation candidates, will focus on Smart Cities and the IoT (Internet of Things).

Brussels Smart City aims to take up the challenges of urban development in the Brussels-Capital Region in three fundamental areas:

  • sustainable development in response to environmental issues
  • human development in response to social issues
  • economic development in response to issues of prosperity.

Technology is not an end in itself, but a tool to be used in the process of making the Brussels-Capital Region a smart city.

During this Smart IoT hackathon, the Bruxelles Formation candidates will be divided into five teams, each made up of two front-end developers, two back-end developers and a student with a business profile. The latter will concentrate on the presentation to be made to the jury at the end of the hackathon.

These five teams will be assigned one of the following topics:

  • Sound sensors: ways of measuring sound levels in public places
  • Pollution sensors: ways of measuring pollution levels in public places
  • Motion sensors: ways of monitoring and providing information about the use of places for people with reduced mobility in real time
  • Ways of optimising the conveyance of local products in Brussels.

The students will be supervised by professionals in the sector: Bruxelles Formation instructors, computer specialists from the BRIC and experts from the MIC who will steer them in the right direction, answer their questions and help them successfully complete their projects.

The results of these activities will be presented to a jury of experts before an audience of business people at 4.00 pm on Friday, 6 April. This hackathon will close with a drink.

Join us for the pitch session that will end the hackathon! You will have the chance to discover numerous profiles of talented developers in search of a job.
