UrbIS Users Club

The programme of the UrbIS Users Club meeting held on 11 June was once again very full and brimming with a wide range of information.

As part of the project linking UrbIS-aaS and CCTV in the Brussels-Capital Region, Christian Banken first of all presented a network cameras and links location tool that can be used to obtain an overall view of cover in the territory, as well as a basic plan for the Video management application provided by software publisher Genetec.

GIM then presented the checks that have been developed to monitor the quality of the data supplied as part of a multiannual contract awarded for the correction and updating of the 2D and 3D buildings layer.

A brief overview was given of the work undertaken to bring the UrbIS data into line with the INSPIRE specifications.

Mr Julien Fastré also spoke to the gathering about the OpenStreetMap (OSM) collaborative geographic database available under a free licence. He presented the situation as regards the importing of Brussels data into the OSM database and recalled the use of a number of tools to be able to re-use OSM data.

Finally, UrbIS news and current affairs were presented: progress on the “Flights 2014 – 2016” project, the status of the UrbIS model overhaul, the UrbIS-aaS, BeSt Address applications, etc.
