Schaerbeek town hall

Via Urbizone, free wireless internet access is now available to every citizen in Schaerbeek town hall and the surrounding area, without any volume restrictions.
Mohamed El Arnouki (cdH), Deputy Mayor for IT, explains: “The commune of Schaerbeek is adopting the SmartBrussels approach that aims not only to dematerialise large quantities of data but also to provide internet access for all its citizens. In fact, since not everyone has access to the internet at home, the commune wants to provide this service at the town hall. In terms of use, the Wi-Fi network will enable people to surf the internet subject to mandatory identification. This will make it possible to carry out checks in the event of improper use and therefore guarantees security.”

Plans are being studied to extend the Wi-Fi network to other public places, such as libraries, the Maison des Arts and other cultural centres, and sports facilities.
