The BRIC’s Green IT approach sets an inspiring example for the organisations, businesses and institutions of the Brussels-Capital Region. This is the conclusion reached by Brussels Environnement, which is shortly to publish on its website an information sheet detailing the process adopted by the BRIC in the field of Green IT: sustainable purchasing policy for public procurement contracts for supplies and services; specifications integrating criteria relating to the guarantee, energy consumption, recycling and ecolabels, among other clauses; calculation of the total cost of possession (taking into account the costs of acquisition, use, maintenance and withdrawal from service), etc.
This proactive Green IT approach is the result of a well-thought-out process which establishes the BRIC as the Brussels leading player in the implementation of sustainable informatics while at the same time efficiently serving its overall performance (administrative simplification, substantial time saving, increased profitability for the principals).

“The BRIC offers public bodies the possibility of benefiting from a market that offers good quality equipment, tested and at competitive prices. The growing number of principals who call upon this central entity can only encourage the BRIC to continue along this path and guide the market towards more sustainable informatics.” (Brussels Environment information sheet, 19/12/2013)
