Was it because of the tropical temperatures? On Monday, 19 June, the BRIC welcomed Mr André Gomyde, Smart City Manager of Vitória, Brazil.

Vitória is a coastal city lying between Rio and Salvador with a population of 350,000 – two million if you include the suburbs (an ‘average’ city in Brazil).

Vitória is one of the cities associated with the Open & Agile Smart Cities project that aims to adopt common standards and ensure data and tools interoperability between cities wishing to embark upon the ‘smart’ adventure.

Brazil is the first non-European country to join the network.

The BRIC presented the outlook and the initiatives covered in its White Paper and exchanged ideas on how this coordination between Smart Cities could work. More details will follow on our blog!
