The national congress dedicated to geographic information, bringing together public authorities, the private sector and the world of research, took place in Brussels on 4 October. And several BRIC employees were there!

The seventh edition of the BeGeo congress and exhibition was a great success and took place at Brussels Expo on 4 October in the presence of the Minister of Defence, Ludivine Dedonder, who delivered an opening speech. Organised by the French National Geographic Institute (NGI), with the support of Agoria, BeGeo has established itself over the years as the flagship event in the geographic information sector at the national level.

More than 700 participants from Belgium and abroad took part in this year's congress. The BRIC, a key player in cartography in the Brussels-Capital Region, took part with the active collaboration of, among others, François Du Mortier, Chairman of the track dedicated to INSPIRE, entitled "Beyond INSPIRE, the European integration of geodata networks continues".

Etienne Caboni, BI & Data Analytics Product Manager, and Benoît Fricheteau, Data Product Manager, explained how the BRIC is implementing the new Brussels regional data strategy. In its new role as an ICT orchestrator, the BRIC intends to better organise and exploit data from public administrations, while protecting personal data. A new data platform has been set up and is built on three main components: a catalogue of all existing data, an integration hub and a data hub. Exploiting the many facets of this platform was the focus of their presentation.

Congratulations and thanks to Benoît, Etienne and François for representing the BRIC so well!
